What is One On Many Marketing?

Let me start  by telling you what it is not! Networking is not “One on many marketing.”  Why not? That is because “one on many marketing”  is built on using systems to communicate and build relationships with a large pool of prospective clients at one time but without losing intimacy. The reason networking does not qualify is that even though you may meet 5, 10 or even 20 people at an event, you must meet with them  individually to  develop any relationship at all.  While it can be effective on some levels,  it is labor intensive and slow.  The “one on many” concept utilizes primarily online but also offline strategies to “pull” in prospects who already have an interest in your product or service.  The good news is that much of the process can be automated. Know Your “Why”

This past Sunday evening I had the privilege of attending one of my long- time client’s wedding ceremony.  Not only was it an honor to be able to attend,  but I was further honored by being asked to be the only non-family member to say a few words and propose a toast. My wife Kathy and I had a wonderful time; it was truly a great evening.  The bonus to this to this experience was the reinforcement of my “why.”  What I mean by my “why” is other than the monetary benefits what are the compelling reasons for doing the work that I do.

Just under two years ago this  client came to me with a list of goals one of which was to grow his business to the point where he could afford to get married.  Of the several goals that he outlined,  that was the one that stuck out in my mind.  This client was a model student and diligently carried out and executed the strategies and training that he learned.  Last year his business grew to the point so that he was able to take the step of engagement.  Sunday night I experienced the joy of his achievement of this important life goal.  The experience of the joy that I felt is why I love my work.  There is no monetary benefit that can match that feeling.  I hope that all of you will take a moment to reflect and think about your “why” so that you can experience the same type of joy.  It is not only one of the keys to being successful but best of all,  there is nothing like it!

The Fear of Marketing To A Target

I understand this fear because I have had it myself.  If I target certain markets,  then I will miss out on opportunities for business.  Let’s shatter that myth once and for all!  Picking and focusing on targeted markets is the first essential step to developing an effective lead generation campaign.  Is it not our dream to have prospects identify with the need for our product or service and then call us.  How can that happen if we don’t help our prospects identify themselves as prospects?  The truth is that communicating to markets will increase lead generation,  and you will still run into all of that other business that you are afraid you will miss out on.

What a title!  How dumb is that!  Of course marketing is important. 

Welcome to my blog.  It is interesting  that most business owners realize that marketing is important. Despite that many business owners and independent professionals do not treat it that way.  Marketing is something we run to when the pipeline is short of prospects. That is what I call YO YO marketing.  As you all know a YO YO goes up and down, up and down and that is the way marketing is often approached.  Marketing is up when we need prospects and it drops when we get a “few new clients.” 

If you want to build a stress -free business,  then ”throw away” your yo yo and  create a written, well- thought- out lead generation process. To the extent that it is multi-faceted and well planned  out,  the more consistently  you will generate new clients.
